Laurino Talk v2“Myths about Italian American culture run deep into the fabric of American life, obscuring the complicated, nuanced, centuries-long story of the Italian American experience that deserves to be told.” — Maria Laurino
Join the Staten Island Network for a High Tea featuring Maria Laurino, author of The Italian Americans: A History, a richly researched, beautifully designed and illustrated companion book to the much-anticipated PBS series that aired in February 2015.
Laurino’s presentation, “The Italian American Experience — Our History, Ourselves,” will discuss the necessity of separating myth from reality to uncover the true story of the Italian American experience. Her presentation will include clips from the PBS special. Books will be available for purchase and to be signed.

Greater New York Council member and Strategic Consultant/US Ambassador for Agrifeudi, Maria Arianas, will give a presentation on Agrifeudi, an innovative Italian company specializing in heritage discovery through genealogy and travel. With Agrifeudi, travelers are not considered tourists. Instead, they become “rootists” who absorb and embrace the Italian experience through a deep understanding of the land, gastronomy, and lifestyle. You’ll have the opportunity to learn more about tracing your heritage with Agrifeudi at this event!

This delectable tea includes tempting scones with assorted jams, cream cheeses and fresh berries, assorted imported and domestic cheeses, a variety of traditional crustless tea sandwiches, and decadent tarts and pastries. Freshly brewed coffee, specialty teas and soft drinks will be served.

This event is funded in part by Agrifeudi.
